Celery for Hypertension
Celery has a “cooling” effect on the body. This is an East Asian Medical concept and is used in the treatment of “heat” conditions, which is often the case with high blood pressure. Celery has the additional benefit of curbing food cravings which may be part of the cause of the high blood pressure in the first place.
Although celery juice has become trendy recently, it doesn’t mean it’s good for everyone especially when juiced in high amounts or combined with other sweet vegetables or fruit. Juicing drives up the sugar content. For those with an underlying diabetic pattern, juicing could make things worse.
When in doubt, eat the entire celery stock (without juicing) to reduce over-consumption. If you’re planning to juice, keep the amounts consumed minimal and avoid sweet additions. Better is to start following the RESET Food Plan and consume whole celery stocks during fasting days.
